Summer holidays have officially kicked off, and we absolutely LOVE the vibrant buzz that has surrounded the village.

As the days grow longer and the sun shines brighter, the arrival of summer brings with it a sense of freedom and adventure that locals and visitors alike take advantage of the warm weather to explore the beautiful surroundings.

The start of summer holidays in our village is not just a seasonal change; it is a celebration of community, joy, and togetherness. The lively buzz that fills the air reflects the spirit of the people who call this place home and those who call this place their favourite holiday destination, making it a truly special time of year.

Meet Lara from Yukul Art

Contemporary Aboriginal Artist | Worimi Woman | Mother

Lara from Yukul Art has been a special friend of mine since we first crossed paths in early high school and I have come to appreciate not only her friendship but also the beauty of her artistic creations. Her talent is evident in every piece she produces, showcasing a unique blend of cultural heritage and personal expression.

Her passion for creating art has been an integral part of her identity for as long as she can remember. Lara draws inspiration from the rich traditions of Worimi country, where she grew up, as well as from her family and the ocean, reflecting her connection to nature and the importance of caring for the environment. This deep-rooted respect for mother earth is not just a theme in her work but a guiding principle in her life, influencing the materials she chooses and the messages she conveys through her art.

Lara is passionate about sharing her knowledge of Indigenous culture with people of all ages, believing that art can serve as a powerful medium for education and connection. Through her thoughtfully designed art pieces and engaging workshops, she invites others to explore the richness of her heritage and the stories that shape her work.

If you are interested in acquiring a unique and meaningful piece of Yukul Art, I highly encourage you to reach out to Lara, as she is currently open for commissions and print shop is live on her website. Each piece she creates is not just art; it is a heartfelt expression of her journey, culture, and love for the world around her.
